As a native New Yorker, Dr. Maria Fontana is excited to provide quality care within the community she calls home. Dr. Fontana attended Hofstra University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to receive a Doctor of Dental Science at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Throughout her dental education Dr. Fontana placed an emphasis on working with a variety of different populations and continued her passion for philanthropy. She has worked with organizations such as Project Sunshine and LIVEUP NYC to serve both children and adults with Down Syndrome.

During her dental education Dr. Fontana traveled to Colombia to work with Healing the Children providing necessary care to those in need. While in Colombia, she also worked as a genetics research fellow for cleft palate children that later went on to publication. It was through these experiences that she developed a passion for orthodontics and treating patients of all needs.

Dr. Fontana completed her orthodontic training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where she served as class president and chief resident of her program. Providing the highest quality treatment has remained her number one priority. These efforts were honored by her program awarding her the Dr. Henry Nahoum Scholarship for dedication and extraordinary potential to the profession two years in a row.

When not practicing orthodontics Dr. Fontana can be found participating in group fitness, training in the gym or spending time with her rescue dog Mason.
