Your child’s smile is constantly changing as they grow. At Happy KiDDS, we look beyond teeth to evaluate how the teeth, jaws, airway, and oral muscles are developing and working together. Early evaluation can help identify concerns and determine when monitoring or intervention may be beneficial.
Airway Analysis
Healthy growth starts with healthy breathing. We evaluate your child and look for signs of airway concerns, mouth breathing, snoring, and jaw development patterns that may affect breathing, sleep, or facial growth. When appropriate, we work with ENT doctors and myofunctional therapists to improve breathing and oral health with customized treatment plans.
Malocclusion, Crowding & Function
We monitor your child’s bite and developing teeth for malocclusion, crowding, crossbites, overbites, underbites, and spacing concerns. We also consider oral function, including chewing, swallowing, tongue position, and the way the lips and jaws work together. Through early and proper diagnosis we address these concerns with an individualized treatment plan.
Early Orthodontic Intervention
An early orthodontic evaluation doesn’t necessarily mean braces. It gives us the opportunity to identify developing concerns, monitor growth, and determine the best time for treatment—if treatment is needed. For some children, early intervention can help guide jaw and dental development and support a healthier, more functional bite.
Treatment May Include:
Palatal expanders — Gently widen the upper jaw to support healthy airway development and tooth alignment.
Braces or clear aligners — Guide developing teeth and jaws into a healthier position.
Growth guidance appliances — Help guide jaw development while your child is still growing.
Collaboration with sleep specialists — When sleep apnea or other airway concerns require additional support. — YES!!!! WE DO THIS!!!!
